LAVA mobiles have listed a 5500 Rs handset named IRIS 500 on its official website. This budget mobile packs with ordinary features and has a large FWVGA touchscreen display that measures 5 inches. The company claims that the screen offers good viewing angles as it uses IPS technology. As the screen is big, watching videos on this device will be a good experience.
LAVA IRIS 500 features a 1300 MHz dual-core processor and Android Kit Kat operating system. It comes with a disappointing 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Phones like Redmi 1S, Asus Zenfone 4, Micromax Canvas Juice are offering 1GB RAM at the same cost. Thus, you’d like to go with one of these 3 if your budget is around Rs 5500 to 6000.
The IRIS 500 handset has a fixed focus 5.0 megapixels back camera with LED flash. It is incorporated with a 0.3 MP HD snapper at the front just above the display. This phone includes an 1800 mAh capacity battery that assures around 4 hours of average talk-time.
It is 8.7 mm thick and 72 mm wide. It comes with a proximity sensor and Android toolkit, Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome apps. Internet connectivity is supported with GPRS. This handset has WCDMA and GSM SIM card slots. It is available in midnight blue, black, white and red color options.
Excluding the large display, there’s nothing much interesting to talk about this handset. IRIS 500 now costs under 4800 Rs. To be honest, the price tag is still not good as Moto E has started to retail for under 5K.
Very soon, 4G mobile phones with 1GB RAM will be available in the Indian markets. Thus, I don’t think that people will buy this phone. Moreover, Lava hasn’t rolled out a Lollipop update for IRIS 500 yet. This is a big disappointment for the people who own it.
