Xiaomi Redmi 1s is a powerful Android 4.3 Jelly Bean phone that can be bought online for just 5999 Rs. If you already have this handset and if you’re looking forward to updating the preloaded MIUI v36 to v41 or V45, then please follow any of the methods that I’ve shared in this article.
Flashing MIUI ROM in Xiaomi Redmi 1s
Before you start updating the handset make sure that you’ve:
- Backed-up all of its system files, apps, and other utilities.
- Charged the phone up to 90%.
- Activated a good internet plan.
If you’re done with the above three tasks follow method 1 or 2:
Method 1 [via phone]: Tap on the tool’s icon that appears on the home screen of the handset (check the below screenshots).
Now run the updater utility. When you do this, the phone will automatically detect the latest update.
When it finds one, tap on install button and wait for the update to complete.
Method 2 [via computer]: Download MIUI ROM (the latest version V45) through this link and save it to your PC. Connect your phone to the computer with USB cable. Create a new folder named downloaded_rom in the root folder of the MicroSD card. Copy the ROM file to this folder. Now open the updater utility on your phone and press the menu button. Now you’ll see several options at the bottom left on phone’s screen. Tap on the select installation file and open the downloaded_rom folder. Now tap on the ROM file.
Installing XIAOMI Redmi 1s USB drivers:
There are three primary reasons why you would like to install Redmi 1s USB drivers on your computer or laptop. Let’s have a look at them one by one:
Using your computer’s internet on your phone: If you have set up an internet connection at your home, then there’s no need to activate a GPRS or 3G plan on your Android phone. You can use your PC’s internet connection on your Redmi 1s if you have installed the phone’s USB drivers. Just activate the network connection on your system, connect your handset with a USB cable and open your favorite websites through the phone’s web-browser.
Installing apps and games: As you have started using your PC’s internet on the Redmi 1s, you can install apps or games without using a PC suite software. Just open the Google play store app, type a name of the app you want to install and tap on the search icon that appears in the top right corner of your screen.
Transferring files from the PC to the MicroSD card or the internal storage: If you want to move music, video or image files from your laptop or computer’s storage hardware to the Redmi 1s then make sure that you’ve installed its USB drivers. If you do this, the phone’s ROM will be automatically detected by the Windows OS whenever you connect it with a USB cable.
How to install Xiaomi Redmi 1s USB drivers on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and XP?
Download the MiPhoneManager from this link. Disable firewall on your computer for a few minutes (as it may block the manager from downloading files from the internet). Now double-click on the installation file and wait for the setup to complete. Done!
MiPhoneManager has UI with Chinese fonts. You don’t have to interact with the UI so don’t be worried.
Note: the above techniques can be applied to Xiaomi Note, Mi3, Mi2s, and Mi4.
