Last week, India’s number 1 smartphone company i.e. Xiaomi introduced a low budget Redmi Note 5 Pro phone. The latest handset has brilliant features and it costs only Rs 14000. It is a great alternative to the best phone within Rs 20000 to 35000 segment i.e. OnePlus 5T. Why is this so? Well, although the two mobiles belong to different price range, their features are nearly the same. Here’s the comparison of the two Android devices:
Processor: The Xiaomi smartphone packs an octa-core 14nm Snapdragon 636 processor and Adreno 509 GPU. OP 5T, on another hand, carries a Snapdragon 835 quad-core 10nm processor and a powerful GPU i.e Adreno 540. SD 8xx series processors are more powerful than SD 6xx series SoCs.
Cameras: The Xiaomi RN 5P and OnePlus 5T cameras are powered by Sony sensors. What’s the difference? Well, the Xiaomi handset carries latest Sony sensors. OnePlus 5T features IMX398 sensor whereas Redmi Note 5 Pro includes IMX 486 sensor.
Note 5 Pro flaunts a soft selfie flash powered 20 MP front camera. OnePlus 5t includes the same resolution camera at its front side.
The Xiaomi mobile is fitted with 5MP and 12 MP rear cameras, which are accompanied by a single tone flash module. OP5T offers a 16MP back camera, which is paired with dual LED flash module.
Memory: Xiaomi and OnePlus have used the latest LPDDR4X technology based RAM modules in their handsets. Redmi Note 5 Pro is available for purchase in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 6GB + 64GB.
OnePlus is selling 5T in two versions, one with 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage capacity and another with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM.
Display: Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has a 5.99-inch full-screen full HD display. The mobile offers 4 reading modes and has the option to adjust the screen color temperature. RN 5 Pro provides CG screen protection.
OnePlus 5T ships with a 6.01-inch AMOLED full HD 16:9 display that offers Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 3 reading modes. The handset supports DCI-P3 and sRBG color profiles.
Sensors: Redmi Note 5 Pro ships with 7 sensors (including an IR blaster/sensor). OP 5T provides 8 sensors, but it lacks an IR Blaster module.
Battery: Both mobiles include a Li-polymer battery. They also support quick charging technology. RN 5 Pro’s and OnePlus 5T battery capacity is 4000 and 3300 mAh respectively.
Design: Redmi Note 5 Pro’s design is similar to other mid-range handsets launched by the company. OP5 looks like a classy smartphone.
Weight: RN 5P is an 8.05mm thick mobile. It has 181 grams weight. OP 5T is 7a .3-millimeter thin smartphone. It is a lighter than Xiaomi’s device.
Color options: Black, Lake Blue, Gold and Rose Gold color variants of Note 5 Pro have been listed on Flipkart. You can buy OP5T in black and sandstone color versions.
Price: The RN 5 Pro mobile costs less than half the price of OnePlus 5T. Its price is Rs 13999. OP 5t’s price is 32999 INR.
OnePlus 5t features that Redmi Note 5 Pro lacks:
- NFC support.
- USB Type-C port.
- 2.5D glass.
- Face unlocking (OS update).
- 4K resolution video recording.
Common features:
- Fingerprint sensor.
- 2 Sim card slots, 4G support.
Features unique to Redmi Note 5 Pro:
- MicroSD card slot.
- Infrared sensor.
Which phone is better?
OP 5t is a great phone, but it is costly. RN 5 Pro has a brilliant configuration. The phrase “Value for money” suits it. If you can afford OP 5T, go for it. If your budget is below 15K, buy Redmi Note 5 Pro. Although it is yet to be available for purchase, RN 5 Pro (6GB variant) is the best phone under 20000 Rs.
