On the occasion of the 83rd birth anniversary of DH Ambani, Reliance industries have officially launched its telecom business under a brand name Jio.

The chairman of Reliance, Mr. Mukesh Ambani had shared details on the important services Jio will offer. He also demonstrated some of the products. In case you were not there at the launch event, go through the below paragraphs to know about the new exciting products Reliance corporation has launched.

RJIO TV

Reliance will introduce JIO TV platform which will be in competition with Tata Sky, Airtel DTH, Videocon and many other top direct to home service providers in India. Jio TV will allow its users to watch TV in high definition resolution. It will let users resume and pause live shows, sports events, etc.

The coolest feature of Reliance Jio TV is its support for voice command. You will be able to navigate to another channel without using the remote control device. The user will get a chance to watch shows that he had missed in the last 168 hours.

If you would like to watch latest Hollywood English, Hindi movies or international TV shows that are not aired on local channels, JIO TV has an on-demand service for you.

4G devices

Reliance will sell phones and tablets under its own Lyf brand. The device will support LTE
4G networks. Reliance has started taking orders for the same. To book your phone, tablet, visit the local Reliance store. Lyf tablets and phones are not available online yet.

High-speed Broadband for home and businesses

JIo fiber is a 1 Gbps broadband service that will be available for home users. As of now, only BSNL offers 1 GBPS connection, but it is too expensive for a normal user. With such bandwidth, the user can download full-length movies within 4 to 5 minutes. If you’re a web developer, you will be also able to host websites at your home.

According to an Indian Express report, RJIO has deployed lakhs of kilometer fiber optic cables across the country. Thus, every major city in India will be in the coverage area for 1 GBPS broadband connection.

Apps

Reliance will launch a wallet service for smartphones. It is expected to acquire a license for establishing a payment bank.

As of now, the RJIO services are available only for the Reliance employees. If you work for the organization, you can enjoy 75 GB of free 4G data.

RJio will be launched commercially by the end of April 2016. If you’re planning to buy an internet connection, we would recommend you to wait for a couple of months as you can expect to get a better deal with RJio.

If tariffs on RJIO internet plans are good, local ISPs like Hathway, Tikona, GTPL, You Broadband will go through difficult times. Established companies like Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone will lose customers if they don’t reduce tariffs on 2G, 3G or 4G data plans.
