If you had a bad experience while traveling through a train in India or if you’ve some suggestions to improve Indian railways, you can now register a complaint via IRCTC website or the COMS app. This is the latest service offered by Government owned IRCTC network. It has launched yesterday (on 2nd MARCH) by the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
IRCTC COMS (online complaint management system) site features a simple menu system. When users open it on their web-browser, they’re just a couple of clicks away from registering a complaint. IRCTC has categorized the complaints into 20 types.
Users can select one type at a time by clicking on the drop-down list. The online IRCTC complaint form also includes the staff name field. Thus, if you were tortured or mistreated by some Railway staff, you can enter his/her name in it. The complaint form features an attachment section.
If you’ve any picture or document proof, you can attach it to this form. Once you’ve filled up and submitted the form, you’ll be provided with a unique tracking number. You can use this number to check complaint status.
The COMS app for Android requires less than 1.5 MB of installation space. It is an exact replica of the COMS website. Thus, if you travel by train frequently, make sure that you install COS app on your device. If a user doesn’t have access to the internet, he can register a complaint via SMS by sending a message to the number +919717680982. Users can also register complaints by the phone by dialing 138.
Millions of people travel by trains every day. Thus, 1000’s of complaints will be registered daily through the new IRCTC portal. The Government of India has done its part of the work. Now it’s up to the IRCTC employees to take an appropriate action on the complaints registered by travelers.
