Internet TV business is profitable. Netflix has reported a consistent revenue of over 1 billion dollars and it has a large customer base. Netflix has been operating since the dot-com bubble. Some companies in Asia and India are trying to follow the path of Netflix by launching their own Internet TV service. Hooq is one of them. This service is operated by Singtel, one of the largest telecom operators in Asia. It’s an on-demand video streaming service was made available to the Indian customers in May 2015.

Today, Hooq has reportedly partnered with Shemaroo entertainment company to stream more than 1000 classic and latest movie titles through its website or Android application for handsets and smart televisions. This service will be available only for registered users. Fees for the same are 199 Rs + taxes. With its collaboration with Shemaroo, Hooq has more than 30K hours of video content that include popular TV serials, international blockbusters, and local shows/movies.

This number will keep on increasing as Hooq is constantly adding more content to its collection. Users can download movies for offline viewing at no additional costs. The service sounds exciting, isn’t it? To watch movies online, you should be a user of unlimited broadband internet plan with good browsing speed.

India is a country of billion people and only a handful of the population use internet on a daily basis. Some reports claim that the number of Internet users in our country is growing at a very fast rate. Thus, it’s a good opportunity for internet and telecom companies like Hooq to attract new customers and increase the presence in the fastest growing economy.

Well, Hooq is not the only company to launch Internet TV service in India. DishTV, the largest DTH operator in the country has recently introduced its DishFlix on demand service that allows its users to watch 50 movie titles on a monthly commitment of 100 Rs. DishTv has claimed that 15 new/classic movies will be added every month.

Dishflix doesn’t require an internet connection. The movie will be downloaded automatically when the device is on. The device is priced below 6000 Rs. Both the services allow you to pause and resume videos but Hooq is a better option than DishFlix as it has a large collection of latest, classic and regional movie titles. Its plans are also cheaper i.e You have to pay Rs 199 to access video library. In the case of Dishflix, you’ll have to buy a set-top box like device (worth 6000 Rs).
