Travelling by air is fastest and costliest way of traveling. While booking a ticket for a flight, you’re allowed to choose between economy, 1st and business class tickets. Economy class is cheap but to enjoy more facilities and luxury, wealthy people will opt for business or the 1st class.

There are many airlines in the world, and most of them compete. These companies offer discounts and attractive offers only on special days. Thus, Holidays and festive seasons are probably the cheapest days to fly.

During regular working days, you’ll have to do a small research to find cheap flight tickets. Your research will be more precise and much better with the below price prediction tools.

Best Flight Price Prediction tools for 2017

1Kayak

In my perspective, Kayak is the best airfare price predictor and comparison service on the web. To get started with this tool, open kayak.com in the web browser of your phone or PC. Now, click on the menu with the label “Flights” from the navigation bar.

If you do so, Kayak will display one-way, round-trip or multi-city traveling options. Select a mode and enter the source, destination city along with traveling/return date. Now, choose your cabin.

Most airline companies allow six passengers from a family. Hence, don’t be surprised if you’re not able to pick more than six travelers in the kayak. When you enter a source/destination location, Kayak will display the airports nearby the location you’ve entered. Hence, it helps you in saving money while traveling.

Kayak enables you to compare flight prices with big agencies like Expedia, eDreams, OneTravel, etc. You can set price alerts with this tool. Kayak has many powerful filters. It is easy and free to use service.

2Hotwire

When you open HotWire, it will display options to select a package i.e. flight, cars, and hotel. To find flights within your budget, fill the form displayed on the website and click on the find button. When you do so, the browser will open a new window. This window boasts a list of low fare flights.

Hotwire makes you aware of the airplane in which you’ll be traveling. It also displays the luggage fees and the flight number. The flight prediction service will scan your browsing history and recommend the cheapest fare for the source/destination you’ve searched earlier on other websites.

You can use Hotwire to find airlines that will refund your money in case you’ve canceled your plans to travel another city.

3Momondo

Momondo is yet another airline price predictor which you can use without registering an account. Momondo fetches data from a database that stores flight fares of all major airlines. It has separate websites for each country.

The interface of this site offers similar features as Kayak, but its design and layout are different. When I searched for flights available between Surat to Mumbai, Momondo tool took a while to perform a DB search operation. After half a minute, it displayed “no flights found” message.

This tool displays day wise flight data along with their estimated prices. It allows you to set email alerts for the flight fares. Footer section of this site flaunts a list of flights to important cities in your region. Momondo is one of the best flight price predictor and comparison website for 2017.

4Hopper

Hopper is a free flight price predictor app available only for the USA and Canada residents. Its app has been listed on IOS/Itunes store. You must be an owner of iPhone or iPad to use this app.

The service is powered by a well-designed engine that analyzes 1000s of flight data on daily basis. It employs a powerful prediction algorithm that suggests the best time to book a ticket. Hopper can save 40% of your money while traveling via an airline. It has an excellent 4.6 rating on the Itunes store.

5GetfLYR

The GetFlyr site has filters to shortlist non-stop flights, airlines, and timings. It is fast. Instead of opening a new page, it displays flight prices on the home page.

Like the above two websites, GetFlyr can alert you whenever there’s change in price trends via email. It allows you to book flights too. GetFlyr has a fare lockin feature with which users can get best flight deal by entering their credit card and email address. With this feature, the current fare for your selected flight will be locked for seven days.

If the ticket prices go down, GetFlyr will make you aware of the same via an email. Hence, you’ll be able to book the ticket at the lowest price. If the fare increases, GetFlyr will pay the difference. This website is just a few months old. As its features are exciting, we’ve added GetFlyr.com to our list.

Conclusion: I had tested seven websites, and only the above 5 generated relevant results. Along with the prediction utility, the above tools have a flight price tracker module. Apart from the hopper tool, I didn’t find any app the reciprocated the features that you’ll find in the above websites.

If you travel by air frequently, make sure that you use Hotwire, Kayak, Hopper or Momondo as these portals will let you save money by recommending cheapest flights for any class.
