I bought a new DTH connection from one of the e-commerce websites. I had read several reviews before placing the order. According to the reviews, DishTV picture quality is great and service is excellent.
My experience with the DTH company was not as good as other users. Maybe, the reviews are from people who switched from local cable TV to DTH.
Here’s my honest review of Dish TV:
Installation
I had placed the order at the night. The DishTV was installed at my place on the next day.
Customer Support
The job of the technician is to install and activate the connection. Once his job is over, you’ll receive a verification call from the company. As I was traveling, I didn’t pick up the verification call a couple of times. I got a message that my connection will be deactivated If I don’t go through the verification process. I contacted DishTV executive through the company’s official Facebook page and explained the same. The executive told me that my problem will be solved within a few hours. I got a verification call from DishTV. This time, I picked up the call and verified my self. From this experience, I can say that nontechnical Issues are fixed quickly by DishTV.
One thing that I found annoying about DishTV is that the executives call customers when there’s a new offer. I think, most people carry phones everywhere they go. The company should send messages instead of making the executive call the customer. I am using Tata Sky for 10 years. I received similar calls from them a few times. I think, calling customers is a marketing technique practiced by other DTH service providers too.
Technology
DishTV HD Next set-top box enables you to record tv shows when you connect a flash drive such as Pen Drive or HDD to it. You can pause/play the playback tool. The set-top box allows users to favorite a channel. Although the DishTV Next set-top box is rich in features, its UI is sluggish. Maybe, that’s because of the set-top box hardware. The interface has lots of options. Although you can change the language of the UI, older people in your house might not be able to use the interface.
The slowness of the interface makes DishTv annoying. Also, the picture quality of SD channels is not as good as that of Tata Sky. Even when the weather was clear, I was not able to see certain channels. I watch Sony TV every day from 11 PM to 1 AM every day. The channel’s playback used to stop at random intervals. Sometimes, the video appeared garbled. DishTV displays an ad for 5 to 10 seconds when you switch on the TV.

Also, when the balance is low, DishTV displays a large message after/before the ad as if you owe 1000s of rs to the company.
Although the tariffs and packages are almost the same as other DTH service providers, the picture quality is not up to the mark.
DishTV provides a digital assistant tool called “ADI” which allows you to see recharge offers, your account balance, package details, transaction history, etc without logging into the website or dialing any number. ADI also allows you to troubleshoot common errors and request call back from DishTV employee.
App and live TV
DishTV has launched a mobile app which lets users manage their accounts i.e. change packs, drop packs, see the payment due date, update contact details, see the details of previous transactions, etc. The company’s website and the app won’t let you stream channels.

Dish TV packages
DishTV has launched several plans. It enables users to select a base pack and add channels to the pack by paying Rs 8.5 per channel. The company has launched 14 base packs
