BSNL has launched it cheapest ever unlimited broadband plan to make sure that Reliance JIO Welcome Offer doesn’t impact its Q4 revenue. BSNL has named its newest plan as Experience Unlimited BB 249.

According to this plan, the users will get 1GB of data for only Rs 1. As the subscription cost is Rs 249, the users will enjoy 250 GB data. The BB249 plan offer is valid for the 1st six months. It promises over 1 TB of data for up to 6 months. It is available only for the new subscribers. On an average, Indian broadband users use 20 to 30 GB data per month. BSNL has offered 5 times more data to new customers.

Bandwidth

BSNL will provide 2 Mbps download speed for up to 1 GB data transfer. The firm will throttle the speed to 1 Mbps following the FUP limit.

Freebies

BSNL offers broadband connections through wired line telephone connection. Along with unlimited data for 6 months, users of the new plan will enjoy night calls without any charges/tariffs on Sundays. The time to make free calls is from 9 PM till 6 AM. Full details on Experience Unlimited BB249 is available on the BSNL site.

What happens after 6 months?

BSNL will convert the BB249 Plan to BBG ULD 499 Combo plan which will provide the same volume of data and network bandwidth.

What about existing customers?

BSNL has made no special announcement for the current subscribers. Its official site has incomplete information about BB plans. It is likely that BSNL may have introduced new plans to prevent customers from buying JIOFI hotspot device which provides 3 months of unlimited 4G data. You must visit a nearby BSNL office to learn about the plans.

BSNL makes changes to its BB plans often. Customers planning to buy the BB Combo ULD 249 plan will be hoping that the firm doesn’t suspend this plan after six months.

How to buy BSNL Broadband connection?

Download the BB application form from the official website and fill it. Visit your nearest BSNL exchange office and submit the filled form. Wait for the call from an engineer. If the engineer finds your place feasible for the BB connection, he will setup the connection.

BSNL FTTH vs RJIO GigaFiber

Reliance may unleash its JIO GigaFiber broadband tariff this year (or before Q1 2017). All eyes will be on BSNL as it is one of the biggest FTTH broadband providers in India. Let’s hope that both companies provide affordable FTTH plans.
