You can now turn any surface in a touchscreen, thanks to the engineers who have devised a cool tech gadget named touchpico. As of now, this device is crowdfunding on indiegogo and it has managed to receive more than 150000$ in donations.
It will go on sale from October onward for a decent price tag of 350$ (around 20k in India). This Black/white colored device is basically a projector that can read user touch input from any object. This gadget comes with a stylus that has an infrared emitter built-in & a camera that can sense the emitted rays.
It also features a chip that processes signals & images (at 40 FPS). This chipset calculates x & y co-ordinates just as it’s done in mobile touchscreen devices. With a weight around 130 to 150 grams, tochpico can be carried anywhere. It can easily fit in in a pouch or your pocket.
Touchpico has been designed to work with Android tablets and phones. It includes a micro SD card slot for users want to display files, images from the flash storage on a wall, curtain, roof or any other surface. This tech gadget is so powerful & innovative that any user can make use of it in their own ways. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, teacher or a businessman, you can use touchpico.
People can use this device to play complex strategy or mmorpg games that involves several objects and characters. Professors can use this projector to teach students in interactive & high-tech way. As a businessmen, you can leverage touchpico in presentation sessions with clients & fellow employees. Elderly people who own this cool gadget can display and go-through documents or pdf files on any large surface.
Well, developers are working on a better model of this device. The never version will have an impressive 400 lumen brightness & a CMS built-in.

It’s a cool idea but for nearly $500 dollars? I don’t know about the price for a 150 lumen projector. Even if it has that touchscreen capability the price point is quite high. There’s that new AAXA LED Android projector that release that I read about on CNet that does basically the same thing. Features wise, it has Android and all the wifi goodies, PLUS bluetooth. It just doesn’t have that innovative touchscreen technology. But for the same price you get 550 lumens… Interesting idea, hopefully they can increaes the light output. That would be enticing to buy.
