In India, Dhingana had shut down because of several financial and copyright lawsuit issues. This year, US based Rdio music streaming service will go offline very soon because of similar problems. Pandora has already acquired the assets of Rdio (technology, employees, rights to songs,…etc). The company seems to be excited to join the Pandora team because Pandora has a wealth of experience in the music streaming business and it has several million active users.
The management team at Rdio has published a special farewell aka thanksgiving page for its regular users. It is also allowing the users to download their history as an archive file so that the user can easily switch to other similar websites. According to the farewell page, the Rdio service will not be accessible from December 22 onwards. The site is not accepting any new registrations, but it has revealed the most popular music content and the top loyal users.
According to Rdio, the first ever user of the site registered an account in August 2010. The user played California girls song.
The most popular song album on the site was Drake’s Nothing was the Same. Bruno mars’s song when i was your man was played more than any other title on the music streaming website. 1000, a playlist first published in April this year was the favorite of most users.
Spotify, a competitor to Pandora is leaving no stones unturned. In order to increase its user base, it has launched a web tool to import your playlist from Rdio to their site.
The tool has an option to drag and drop the zip format file of your collection or you can select the same through its file dialog.
According to Spotify, users can easily follow their favorite artist. The tool will handle the task of importing your tracks from Rdio to your account on the site.
