Google India has announced via Twitter and Google plus that it will be rolling out Lollipop update for Spice Uno, Karbonn Android One, and Micromax Canvas A1 phones. But it has not announced any dates on which users can expect the update nor Google has announced the Android version.
Some online news sources claim that Google’s latest Lollipop OS version 5.1 will first hit Android one devices. Many Android One users felt cheated as Xolo rolled out the Lollipop update for its Xolo One phone before Google did for their handsets. Now they can sit back and relax.
There’s good news for the Moto E 1st generation users too. A Xda forum member posted a screenshot of an email which confirms that Motorola is testing a new software release.
The trial may last for 1 or 2 months as it involves fixing bugs, taking user feedback, etc. Moto E runs on Kit Kat OS, and the upcoming software release is nothing but Android 5.0. Thus, the owners of this handset can expect Lollipop update by the end of March or April.
Android One and Moto E will be updated over the air. So make sure that you use a good Internet connection as the update file’s size may exceed 100 megabytes. If you use the Internet daily on your handset, the OS will make you aware of newer software release automatically. Here are the exciting features that you can expect your new OS to have:
Better UI: Lollipop OS has better and more powerful UI than Kit Kat. You’ll see new animations, improved buttons with shadows.
Security: Google has introduced a facial unlock system in its Android Lollipop OS. Thus, you’ll be able to unlock your handset by using the cameras. This feature is useful as you don’ have to remember any pin or patterns.
Better battery backup: Google has optimized Lollipop to use lower CPU, RAM than the Kit Kat 4.4 OS. As the operating system is not overloading the RAM and CPU, you can expect your Android One’s or Moto E’s battery to last a bit longer than what it used to be when the handset was running on Kit Kat OS.
