Today, Contour has launched the successor to its entry-level budget camera Roam 2. Dubbed as Roam 3, this new device packs with a 270 degree rotating and 170 degree wide-angle lens. Unlike its earlier version, this action camera can work in 30 feet deep water.

To use it underwater, you don’t need to stuff Roam 3 in any type of special case. This device records 720p videos at a rate of 60 fps. Capturing videos in 1080p is possible at a 30 frames per second. Contour Roam 3 has an improved inbuilt microphone. As action cameras are easy to carry around, you can use Roam 3 in wild life photography or when you’re trekking.

To store videos and images, this device is fitted with a 8GB capacity. The storage spec offered with this shooter is decent. Sometimes you may have to store more than 7.8 GB of data. In such cases you can mount a SD card in Contour Roam 3’s microSD card slot. The camera comes with an instant photo mode that allows you to capture burst and still images easily. It houses an universal camera mount.

Thus it can be easily fitted to tripods. Electronic circuits and other vital hardware in this shooter is packed within an aluminum case. Thus this device is tough. Roam 3 comes installed with a laser level system and a rechargeable lithium ION battery. It doesn’t support WiFi connectivity. This can disappoint a few people who expected this camera to support WiFi.

To transfer photos or videos to your PC, you’ll have to set up a USB connection between the 2 devices. Setting up USB connection is not a rocket science. This new device from Contour looks impressive. It has elegant looks and decent features. This action camera costs 12000 Rs (200$). It is a good alternative to GoPRO cameras in the same price range.
