Google chrome is undoubtedly one of the best browser in the world and it comes with several useful settings. The user can customize the appearance of Chrome and this is one of the top reasons for the browsers huge popularity.
Although you’ll hardly face any problems with it, sometimes you’ll recognize that chrome will not open some websites. In such cases, you can try out the below fixes:
Check network connection: Sometimes your Windows computer might suffer a network connection problem and you’ll have to run the windows network diagnostics tool to find out the reason for this. Once you identify the problem, fix it. Now clear Google chrome cache and try to reopen the website that failed to load at the beginning. This should fix the problem.
Disable DNS prefetching: This may be one of the reason why Chrome might fail to load your favorite web page. Prefetching feature allows the browser to use the predefined set of DNS addresses to improve the website load speed. If chrome fails to find one for a site, it may not be able to load it. In such cases, you’ll have to disable prefetching of DNS addresses. To do this, visit advanced options in the settings page and uncheck the improve page load button.
Check if website is down: Websites may be down due to traffic spikes or some server configuration errors. When you try to open such portals on any browser, you’ll see a 404 or an internal server error. As the problem is not at your end (unless you’re a webmaster), you cannot do anything about it.
Modify firewall rules in antivirus: Many top antivirus for Windows 8.1, 8 , XP or 7 OS comes with an inbuilt firewall that has the capability to automatically block programs from accessing the internet. If the browser displays website not found error then you should reconfigure firewall rules. Don’t forget to white-list Google Chrome.
Use a proxy: If a particular website has been banned from your country then you have no other option than using proxy sites.
