Asus has unveiled a new ROG series gaming notebook in the form of G501. The laptop houses powerful hardware in a lightweight and thin body. But is it better than the most powerful Dell Alienware, MSI and Razer blade laptop? Lets find it out.

Asus ROG G501 measures just 0.8 inch thin in dimensions. It has quad-core 5720HQ Intel core i7 processor that has a base and turbo clock speed of 2.6, 3.6 GHz respectively. Asus has employed hypercool cooling system in its G501 notebook. This system features heat sinks made of copper and powerful twin fans which, according to Asus, keeps the hardware temperature as low as possible. Asus has claimed that the ROG G501 is one of the most coolest gaming laptop in the world.

This laptop from Asus is powered by NVidia 900 series (GTX 960M) GPU and HD Graphic 5100 Intel graphics chip. It is available with 4 or 2GB DDR5 video RAM and 15.6 inch full HD or 4k resolution options. G501 can be loaded with DDR3L 16GB high speed 1600 MHz RAM. Just like most other gaming notebooks, this device is packed with solid state drives. But for high speed data transfers, Asus has used PCIE based SSDs in G501. Normal SSD drives have data transfer speeds within 80 to 500 MB/S. With PCI expansion SSD, the speed is around 1.4 GB/s. ROG G501 will ship with Asus Audio Wizard software.

This software features 5 audio presets for games and entertainment. To change the sound mode, just run this application and click on any of the 5 options. Asus ROG G501 is fitted with a backlit keyboard. The WASD, numeric and cursor keys on the keyboards have been highlighted for better gaming experience. Other important hardware packed in G501 are Intel thunderbolt port, 1TB HDD, MicroSD card reader, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI, mini display port and 1.0 MP webcam.

The price of ASUS G501 laptop with the highest configuration (4K display, 4GB VRAM) is 2000 dollars. Its other model offers 2GB dedicated graphics memory, Full HD memory for 1100 dollars (around 66K in India).
