Wallet based payment systems are frustrating. Users should add cash to their e-wallet before they can make payment. To do this, users must create a profile on website or an app and they’ve to link their credit or debit cards to the wallet account. For example, I must create a payTM or oxigen account to use its wallet feature. One major disadvantage of such system is that users may have to maintain separate wallet accounts for online recharges, payments, money transfers,…etc. Unless you use auto-fill feature of a tool like lastpass, you’ll have to enter same credit/debit card data in multiple applications.
Apple Pay is contactless payment system that has been designed to replace wallets. It makes use of NFC and internet technology to make transactions. The store, retailer or any other shop will maintain a contactless reader. To pay with Apple pay, you just have move your IWatch, Ipad or Iphone near the reader. For verification, users will also have to place their finger on touch-id. Unlike apps and other online services, Apple Pay will play a sound file on successful payment. It will also save transaction details so that users can keep a track of their expenses. Apple is partnering with 100’s of new retailers, banks, stores everyday. Some major bank corporations have also started accepting payments with Apple’s latest transaction system. The service is now live in the United States. Apple is hiring engineers in Europe and Asia. Thus it is expected to be launched in many countries very soon.
how to enable Apple pay?
Users will have to configure their IOS passbook account before they can make payment through Apple Pay. The setup process is an easy task. You’ll need to link your ITunes account (debit & credit card) to the passbook. You’ll be also requested to enter Itunes security code. The details will be validated by bank. If you see NFC payment symbol in a retail store, gas station, bank, taxi service then you can use your Iphone, Iwatch or Ipad to make payment. You can use Apple Pay with

- sites like groupon, tickets.com, OpenTable.
- McDonalds, SubWay, Duane Reade store.
- Popular banks like Citi, Capital One, Bank of America, Barclaycard, Chase,…etc.

Is Apple Pay secure?
Your credit/debit card details will be stored on your phone in an encrypted format. Thus it’s 100% secure. Apple has claimed that it doesn’t stores any card data online. Although touch-ids are used, make sure that you install a sophisticated antivirus system on your IOS device.
