A Kickstarter project by Israeli company Ori Indursky has recently grabbed attention of the online world. This project is based on a high-tech gadget named Vocca. Designed to make home and office lighting system smart, the gadget in limelight is basically a smart adapter/socket for bulbs (simple, LED or CFL).
This socket can switch a bulb on or off on through voice commands. It doesn’t need any switch to work. This device makes smart use of sensory’s voice recognition technology to monitor sound.
When it recognizes any command, this gadget will trigger an action to supply/withdraw current to/from the bulb. It can be even controlled by smartphones or tablets. Vocca houses a LE Bluetooth to get input signals from mobile devices. To function as a remote control, the tablet or smartphone must run the Vocca app. This software will accept user input and it will send Bluetooth signal to the adapter which in turn will process it.
When used with the phone, this device can function as an alarm clock as Vocca app allows user to customize and set triggers. Vocca is not built with any costly hardware, hence it is priced at just 39$. It consumes just 0.25 watts of power, hence it is Eco-friendly. This gadget can recognize commands from distance within 25 to 30 feet.
Using this device is no rocket science and it does not require any kind of special configuration, hence it can be used by kids. Even elderly people can use it. Vocca has managed to collect around 50000 dollars in funds and it is expected to hit the markets by December this year.
