Improving search engine traffic is one of the most important task for a webmaster. This success can be only achieved if right SEO On page and off page techniques are implemented. Before Google panda and penguin updates, getting large number do-follow backlinks(through a bot, software or naturally) from high authority websites was the only method to quickly rank a website high in search engines. Now, the success revolves around the quality of content, keywords, social media signals and of-course building natural backlinks. Today, i’ll share with you a SEO Checklist which will help you understand website search engine optimization better. If you’ll implement the list of below points on your site, your website’s organic traffic will surely increase:
Here are the top on page seo techniques:
1: Choose the right WordPress/ Blogger theme/ template: A SEO friendly theme/ template should have the following qualities:

  1. It should load quickly. If you have a theme that doesn’t fulfill this criteria, you should have a look at the reasons why your website is slow.
  2. It should have only 1 h1 tag on the page/post. This tag should be the title of your article. SEO H1 tag is the most important element on your site.

2: Choose a target keyword: To ensure that your website gets organic traffic, you need to focus on the words that users search for. For this you should use the Google keyword planner tool. Singup or log into this free online tool and search for the keywords related to your upcoming article.

3: Post content-length: Your content should have at-least 300 words. Anything shorter than this number makes your article look thin in the eyes of search engines. If your website was penalized by the Google panda update then check each post’s content length. If you find articles that have short length, simply add a no-index tag to its header or delete it. Also make sure that you add the keyword that you select in this on page SEO checklist point 1.

4: Check keyword density: After following the above points, now you should check keyword density of your article before you publish it. To do this, open this free online keyword density tool, paste your content in the text area and hit the submit button. Now, you’ll get a nice report on your article. Go through the report carefully and adjust the density of the words which are above 4.5%. If you don’t do this and if you go ahead to publish the article as it is, your site can be knocked off in the next Google Panda update.

5: Optimize Post Title for SEO: Your post title should have the target keyword placed at the front. As the first thing that the user reads/ sees in the search results is the title, make sure that you convince the user that your post has the information that he/ she is looking for by adding the keyword to the title. The title should be short and unique for each and every post on the website/ blog.

6: Image SEO: There are users that love to make use of Google images search to find the content that the require. To ensure that your image appears in the search results, you should add alt tag to the photo. This tag should be nothing other than the title on your post.

Here is the top off page seo technique that should follow along with the above points:
Create profiles on Google plus, Facebook, twitter, pinterest: These 4 sites are the top social networks and when it comes to off page seo, these websites can’t be ignored. In this era, social media signals are one of the top factors for high rankings. To get these signals, all you have to do is participate in groups/ communities and share your blog posts there or you can make someone to do this. Although, the backlinks you get through social media platforms are no-follow (in-case of Facebook, twitter and pinterest), you have done a great job. To be honest, this is the most important off page SEO technique. Websites whose articles are shared by people on social media platforms tend to rank higher than other sites who’re less active on social networks.

I would not recommend users to build backlinks as it is considered as a webspam by Google. I have already covered this hot topic in 15 SEO Mistakes Bloggers and Webmasters should avoid. Check it out. If you’ll write high quality content and if you’ll follow the above SEO checklist then high PR backlinks will keep coming naturally.
