Samsung Galaxy S4 mini vs S4 Specs & Price compared

The Korean technology giant Samsung had unleashed the galaxy S4 phone and its 2 variants mini & zoom this year. S4 was launched all around the world in the month of April and as per the sales figure, the Korean technology major has shipped more than 42 million S4 units till date.This phone can be purchased for a price tag around 600 - 650$. 3 months after launching the the flagship device, Samsung launched its budget and a cheaper variant named S4 mini. The budget variant has trimmed specifications and is available for purchase around 400$. Today, we’ll compare and contrast these 2 devices -

Display :-Equipped with the Corning gorilla glass 2 screen protection technology, mini comes installed with a 4.3 inch qHD touchscreen display. The screen resolution, pixel density of this device are 540 x 960 pixels and 256 ppi respectively. On the other hand, its big brother S4 has a massive 5.0″ high definition super Amoled capacitive touchscreen display. This device uses the upgraded Corning gorilla glass 3 protection. S4 comes with a brilliant 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and an impressive 440+ ppi. The user interface of the flglaship phone from Samsung is much better than its cheap variant mini. . Memory :-Talking about memory specifications, mini is equipped with a 1.5GB RAM whereas S4 comes with 2GB RAM. When it comes to storage, the s4 smartphone is available for purchase in 16/32 as well as 64 GB storage capacity models. On the other hand, its budget alternative is equipped with 8GB storage space. Out of 8GB, 3GB is occupied by the operating system + the preloaded apps and the remaining 5GB is available for the user.Both these devices support 64 GB MicroSD card. S4 users are offered additional free 50 GB cloud storage which makes the total secondary storage capacity of this phone to a whopping 114GB Thus, with respect to memory specifications both these Samsung phones can be considered up to the mark.

Processor :-One of the major points of differences between mini and Galaxy S4 is its processor. While mini features a dual core Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1700 MHz clock speed and an Adreno 305 GPU, Galaxy S4 is an octa core chipset powered device. S4 uses Exynos 5 octa core processor (built with 2 quad core microprocessors with 1.6 and 1.2 GHz clock speeds respectively) and a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU to ensure optimum performance of the apps as well as the operating system. Thus w.r.to processor specifications, mini can be considered a weak phone in its price range of 400 to 450$. Other Asian phone manufacturers like Gionee, Micromax, Intex , Huawei have quad core processor powered devices operating in the markets at the same price range as S4 mini.

Operating system and software:-There is nothing much to talk about OS of these 2 Samsung phones. Both these devices run the Android jelly bean operating system and are compatible with its latest update.As Galaxy S4 comes with much better memory and processor specs than mini, it has many interesting capabilities and features like Smart stay, smart scroll , air gestures, TV Out. .etc. Talking about apps, S4 mini, galaxy S4 storage comes installed with apps like image editor/viewer, music player, Google search, gmail, youtube, document viewer ,. .etc.

Camera :- The camera department of galaxy s4 mini comprises of a 8 megapixel rear (with LED flash and basic features like geo tagging, panorama) and a 1.9 megapixel front facing camera. Galaxy S4 sports a 13 MP rear (with LED flash and lots of features like dual shot , image recording, simultaneous HD video recording, image stabilization, geo tagging, panorama ) and a 2 MP front camera.
