Link building is a bad idea specially when you try to link your website to a Blogspot or a WordPress blog using top commentator or recent comments Plugin/ Widget. This widget is installed generally on the sidebar or the footer area of a blog. To attract more comments, many blogs have this plugin installed. Webmasters that have the greed to get extra link love from the high PR or DA site keeps dropping their comments until they see gravatar image on the sidebar widget. The webmasters might be getting the extra love from the site but this lasts just for few days or weeks until Google refreshes its Penguin spam filtering module. Confused?
Don’t link with Blogs using Recent Top Commentator Plugin
These widgets generate site-wide links:Whether they are nofollow or a dofollow, site-wide links are bad for your site’s health and it makes your site eligible to be penalized by Google. If your clickable name appears on a sidebar of a site with 100’s of posts, categories and tag pages then at the time when your name appears on the recent comments or the top commentator widget/ plugin, more than 300 links point to your site. Unless a website is vastly popular and has more than 50000+ unique visitors per day, so many back-links can’t be achieved on a single day. For Google, this pattern of back-links look unnatural. On the next penguin refresh, the site with a negative points or suspicious link backs are penalized by Google. Thus all the hardwork done to build backlinks goes in vain.
If you’ve any doubts on this, go ahead and try this strategy yourself ![]()
