Water plays a vital role in removing harmful salts from our body and it keeps our blood thin. Drinking it in less quantities can make us suffer from dehydration and kidney stones. It may even result in brain stroke. Caktus Inc has devised a smart gadget that keeps a track of the volume of water you intake. This gadget is nothing but a band (equipped with a special sensor) that fits any type of glass, plastic or metal bottle.
This band has a thickness around 55 millimeters. It can be stretched up-to 80 millimeters to fit large bottles. It has a LE profile Bluetooth that connects to a Hug app installed Iphone, Ipod touch or IPad. When used for the first time, this mobile software will ask users to enter their weight, age and gender. It will then calculate a numeric value. This number will be compared with the volume of water the user has in-taken. If it is lower than the overall volume, the user will see a push notification on the phone/tablet. To keep the sensor powered, the band is equipped with a battery that supports charging through USB cable. The sensor in the hug band has been designed to track water levels accurately. It stays in touch with the mobile device 24 x 7 through Bluetooth.
The hug app is free and it can be downloaded from the apple app store. The development team in Caktus Inc is working on an api that will give user an option to connect this app and sync data with Runkeepr and fitbit servers. This device is one of the most innovative way to stay hydrated. It has been presented on kickstarter for crowd-funding. The hug gadget will go on sale from March 2015 onwards for a price within 58 to 60 dollars.
