Datawind, a company that came in the limelight for the development of India’s cheapest tablet i.e. Aakash has launched 3 new budget phones in India. These three devices belong to the company’s Pocketsurfer series and have been named as 5X, 5C and 3GS respectively. The 1st two devices lack 3G connectivity whereas 3GS comes with the support for 3G.
All these devices are priced within 3400 – 7000 Rs in which the Pocketsurfer 5X is cheapest. 5X, 5C runs the Android Linux/Android ICS operating system and are priced at Rs 3499, 4099 respectively. 3GS is most powerful among these 3 phones and is price around 6000 – 7000 Rs.

Talking about the Pocket surfer 5X specifications, this device runs on the Linux mobile operating system and comes with 5 inches resistive display with 240 x 400 pixels resolution. A dual SIM phone, 5X has a front-facing VGA camera, lacks a rear camera and features like 3G.
This Android device has a single core 1000 MHz processor and a battery that can give up to 3 hours of talk-time. FM Radio, Bluetooth features are present in this phone. Pocketsurfer 5C+ has Android Ice cream sandwich operating system installed along with a 1000 MHz Cortex architecture based processor.
This device from Datawind has same size display as 5X i.e 5 inches display but unlike 5X, this phone’s display is a touchscreen type with WVGA resolution. 5C+ Android Ice cream sandwich smartphone under 5000 Rs has support for 2G, EDGE, WiFi and features 2 megapixel rear and a front facing VGA 0.3 MP camera.
Last but not the least, Pocketsurfer 3GS is dual SIM, 3G enabled mobile that runs Android jelly bean operating system. This device is a Dual SIM 3g model and has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor installed along with the Android O.S. 3GS smartphone features 3G, WiFi, FM Radio, 5 megapixels rear camera and a front-facing VGA camera. This device has a slightly better battery backup than the other devices mentioned in this list.
