Why Commenting on Dofollow Blogs is a bad idea?

This strategy to build backlinks worked well before Google introduced its Penguin and Panda updates. Now if a webmaster adopts the commenting to create link backs to a site, its suicidal for him. According to google webmaster guidelines, backlinks to a site should be natural and editorially placed in the content. If Google detects any kind of unnatural or artificial link building tactics, the search engine flags the website to be penalized on the next Penguin update. According to Google, such activities are called as link schemes and they violate its webmaster guidelines. One of my website was penalized by Google for participating in link schemes. I followed some poor SEO strategies suggested by some websites. These strategies include:

1. Inserting exact match anchor text hyperlinks in comments .
2. Submitting website to auto approve directories, low quality social book-marking sites.

Through one of my posts, i’ve explained why submitting websites to poor quality directories or social-bookmarking websites is dangerous. In the first case, google considers EMA links as artificially built. Below are some examples:

Whether its a dofollow blog or a forum, excessive use of keyword rich anchor text in backlinks makes Google aware that the webmaster is trying to manipulate the search engine rankings. Hence, the search takes down all the rankings of this site on next penguin refresh. Thus, focus should always be on improving the quality of the content. If content shared to the online world is rich and of high quality, people would love to share it on social media sites like google plus, facebook, twitter and this will help the site to rank higher in Google as well as other search engines.
